Implementing the Persistent Communications Pattern using Web Services
In Ajax websites it can be useful for the browser to maintain an ongoing communication with the server so that page updates can occur without any user action. This is known as the Persistent Communications Pattern for AJAX and this video shows how to implement it using a JavaScrpt call to a Web service.
